Eligibility Requirements
Applications are encouraged from candidates from all countries and all universities. Applications are particularly encouraged from under-represented groups within their respective disciplines.
To be eligible for a Fellowship by Examination you must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:
You have never been appointed to a permanent academic post in an institution of higher education.
Your main subject of study does not fall within Chemistry, Computer Science, English, History (after 370AD), Mathematics, Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Philosophy, and Physics.
You should hold, or be close to completion of, a doctorate. If you have not formally submitted your doctoral thesis at the time of application, you will be expected to do so before taking up the post.
If you formally submitted your doctoral thesis for viva voce examination before 1 July 2023, you are not eligible unless there are strong mitigating circumstances, such as:
- parental leave
- family commitments
- illness
- other exceptional circumstances
